I'm an Austin-based tutor who is passionate about reading and math. I used to be a teacher and am still involved in education today. I worked as an elementary and middle school teacher. I am certified in special education in elementary through high school students, generalist in fourth through eighth grades, and as a principal. I attended Texas State University to earn my undergraduate and graduate degrees in education. As a tutor, I feel that the greatest results can be achieved when a student is allowed the chance to explore the concepts at their own pace while developing their self-confidence in the subject. I enjoy tutoring students and watching them grow into a capable student excelling in the topics they once struggled in. While math is my favorite subject to tutor, I also enjoy preparing students for their STAAR, ISEE, and SSAT exams. I teach them strategies for testing that are ideal for their learning style. I also help my students develop their study skills and organization, improve their public speaking skills, and build skills that are valuable to other courses. When I'm not tutoring, I am a big fan of museums around the area. I love stumbling across live music around town.
